Waste management in India has become a critical issue due to the rapid pace of urbanization and industrial growth. Every day, cities generate thousands of tonnes of municipal solid waste, but most of it is either dumped in landfills or unmanaged spaces. With limited infrastructure and lack of public awareness, the country struggles to maintain hygiene and environmental health. Efficient waste collection, segregation at source, and scientific disposal are urgently needed. Although some metro cities have adopted smart technologies and models, smaller towns still lag. The push toward sustainable waste management in India is gaining momentum with government schemes and private involvement. However, long-term success requires consistent policy enforcement and mass awareness.
